Kara Murat vs. the Black Knight (Turkey/1975)

Original title: KARA MURAT SOLVALYE'YE KARSI

VHS / Germany / fullscreen / German dub / no subs / this tape has the arm chop scene intact which was cut out of a Turkish TV print!

George Arkin is obviously Cüneyt Arkin!

This is one of the many Turkish cult films that were never dubbed or subtitled into English but if nothing else those lucky enough to understand German got this nice VHS release.

  2. Thank you!! I kept it sitting on German eBay for quite a while (a couple of months actually!) cos I wasn't sure if I really wanted a German tape of a film I already had from TV!

You see the seller's info was crook, he listed the English title as being KARA MURAT THE SULTANS WARROR!! And I already have Mondo Macabro's version of that from TV. But in the end I thought it'd be cool to have an original release and good thing too cos it turned out to be a completely different film!! I understand German fairly well so seeing as this isn't released in an English friendly version this is pretty cool! :D

  4. Poor you, only three weeks of holiday left in sunny Turkey. What a nightmare. LOL.

But in reg. to tapes you're probably right. I hear you can find heaps of rare old films in Hong Kong but apparently the same doesn't apply for Turkey. Too bad.

  7. Hey there, Anonymous,

If you mean the German VHS I assume it pops up on German eBay (ebay.de) from time to time. If you're just looking for ANY version of the film you can watch a print from Turkish TV here:

I've only watched the first 5 min. of that Turkish language version but it seem the whole movie is there (in 7 parts). The picture quality isn't all that great but for the one viewing it'll be alright I'd say. It's in Turkish with no subs.
